The Esio Trot

Esio trot is the story of a shy man named Mr. Hoppy and his love for his neighbour who lived below him, Mrs. Silver. Mr. Hoppy wanted to marry Mrs. Silver and always thought of a way to impress her so that she would agree to marry her. She had a tortoise named Alfie whom she fed. He would always peek through his balcony full of flowering plants in order to see Mrs. Silver feeding her Alfie.

One fine evening, while feeding Alfie Mrs. Silver told Mr. Hoppy," Mr. Hoppy, I think Alfie is growing too slowly. I weighed him this morning and was found to be only of 10 pounds. Can you do some thing to make him grow a bit faster?". He thought it as a good chance to prove himself. He replied," Yes." and after some time gave her a page that had some text and told to say it in Alfie's ears twice a day.

Next day he went to his garage where he worked earlier and asked his mates if he could work their for few hours. In the meanwhile he created a catcher there. On the following day, while Mrs. Silver was away, he used his catcher to take up Alfie. He then weighed him and found him to be of 10 pounds. He went to the market to buy a hundreds of tortoises. After buying, he went home and spread them on the ground. He weighed each and every tortoise among them and when he found one of suitable weight i.e. of 12 pounds, he laid it on Mrs. Silver's balcony using his catcher.

This went on for a month then one day Mrs. Silver said," Mr. Hoppy, I think Alfie has grown a bit larger and so he cannot enter his house. Can you do something to make him shrink a bit?". He again replied," Yes." and gave him a page after some time and asked to read it in Alfie's ears twice a day. This time he took Alfie again up to put a new one just weighing a bit less than him. Again this went on for a few days and the day came when Alfie was able to enter his house. When Mrs. Silver saw this, she thanked Mr. Hoppy. After some days Mr. Hoppy asked her to marry him and she happily agreed. Soon they were married and lived happily ever after.
